Colorado Trip!

This weekend my brother blessed his little boy, so Kaden and I decided it was time to go and meet Jay and Nicole's new little addition-Olen! Jake had is last two races for the season this weekend so he wasn't able to come with us. I was kind of hesitant going with out Jake but I decided that with my mom and Gene's help I would be able to make it 3 days without Jake.
It was a great little adventure, we started out on Thursday at 4 am heading to the airport for Kaden's first flight-
He did great, on the way up he fell asleep the second the engines started for take off, he woke up about an hour into the flight, which at that point we had only about 30-45 min to entertain him before landing. The only problem that we came across was the poopy diaper that he had about 30 min before landing, I was too afraid to get up and change him, so I just wrapped his blanket around him and kept it around him until we landed.
Once we got there we went to meet the little guy-Olen, after about an hour detour (yes we got so lost trying to get to Jay's) but we got there. Olen is so cute, he looks so much like his dad and mom combined, we can see expressions of both Jay and Nicole in him.
Grandma and Grandpa Estepp drove up to Denver and got there about 15 min after us (can you believe that timing!) Well, Friday night we were all sitting around and taking pictures, nobody could believe how Kaden would just smile for the pictures. Grandma thought it was hilarious and I swear she was sitting there taking pictures of Kaden for hours! He is such a HAM!
Kaden loved little Olen, We wanted to get a picture of the two of them together so bad. We had one second to snap a shot once Olen was placed before Kaden realized that he was there. I didn't really get any good pictures, but there was three of us taking them so hopefully Grandma or Mom got a good pic!
I had a really rough night the first night with about a total amount of sleep of 4 to 5 hours (poor Gene, Mom and our neighbors, I felt so bad when he would cry so I had to hold him most of the night which meant I didn't get any sleep). But we wanted to do more then just take naps all day so we decided to go to the Denver zoo which was so much fun!
Of course I had to get a picture of Kaden sleeping, he didn't seem to have a problem when we were out and about!
The bear n the background was actually huge and fairly close (I know he doesn't look that big or close in the picture but he was)!
All of the animals were out, and might I add-very entertaining! This zoo is set up so different then the phoenix zoo, I loved how all the animals were so close and you didn't have to use binoculars to see them! If anybody happens to be in Denver and needs something fun to do I would definitely suggest the zoo!
I don't know how many of you have seen Madagascar 2 but for those of you that have "You Hefty" -Need I say more?
It was so much fun to see all of the animals just walking around!
There was a place where you could pay $1.00 for some nectar to feed these beautiful birds, Gene thought that it would be awesome and really wanted to do it. This only lasted about 2 min, because right after I took this picture he was bit by the bird which made him drop the rest of his nectar.
Grandpa Gene, bought Kaden a token so he could ride the train (well, actually bought me a token, Kaden was free). Kaden wasn't to sure about the train ride, he sat so still with a very worried look until it was over.
Sunday we got to listen to Olen's blessing which was beautiful and the we headed to the airport. Olen was nice enough to share is special day with my mom. It was my mom's birthday Sunday, and she was so happy that she was able to spend it up there. Thanks to Nicole's mom, she even got a birthday cake. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
We got to our gates right as we were boarding which almost gave Gene and I a heart attack. The flight home wasn't as smooth as the flight there, we had to sit on the tarmac for 15 min which Kaden was great during that time except for the pooping again (except for this time it was before we even took off), but the second that we took off Kaden cried/screamed for the first ten min of the flight I felt like crying also. He had already finished his bottle right before the take off so I was waiting for the flight attendants to come by so I could get some more water for his bottle but the flight was horribly turbulent and they called all the flight attendants to sit down (which scared me to death). Well, after about 10-15 min Kaden fell asleep, which I think was due to the turbulence which I guess one thing good came out of it-I seriously thought that the plane was going to crash, I held on to Kaden so tight the entire flight and kept praying that the flight would go fast. Due to the turbulence and Kaden being asleep I didn't even attempt to change him (poor passengers). Well, he slept the entire way home and I have never been so happy to have my feet on the ground.
This weekend was great over all but I was sure happy to be home with Jake! Thanks to mom and Gene, Grandma and Grandpa Estepp for all of your help with Kaden, and thanks to Jay and Nicole for opening your home and sharing your sweet little boy! It was so much fun!
